The new Florida PANTHERS Tandem
Club invites you to attend the Florida Tandem Rally 2010 the
weekend of Nov. 5-7 in “Florida’s Friendliest Home Town,” The
Villages, Florida.
With many
wide boulevards and golf cart lanes, The Villages is a great
location for tandem riding. An active retirement community
of approximately 75,000 residents, The Villages is centrally
located in Florida. It is 24 miles south of Ocala off U.S.
Highway 27/441 and a few miles east of I-75.
The weekend
activities will be headquartered at the Waterfront Inn. The
hotel overlooks Lake Sumter, offering a spectacular view. If
you want to take a short cruise on the lake, two boats with
captains and crews are berthed at the rear of the hotel for your
convenience. You can also take some pleasant strolls along the
lakefront to the heart of Sumter Landing, a pedestrian-friendly
downtown with shops and restaurants evoking a New England
fishing village.
Every
evening from 5 to 9 pm live music is performed in the Sumter
Landing Town Square for your dancing and listening; there is
also a two-for-one happy hour. Surrounding the Town Square and
along the nearby streets are 15 restaurants that offer many
different dishes to satisfy your appetite after the rides, and
many shops in which to browse.
All rides
will start and end at The Waterfront Inn. We will offer rides
on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The
registration fee will cover detailed maps for the rides,
pre-ride snacks, Saturday’s lunch and admission to the Saturday
evening banquet.
